As students study and prepare for the AP exam they must make choices in what they read and analyze. They need novels that challenge them, showcase elevated literary techniques, and create rich discussions that lead to deep literary analysis. Wuthering Heights is a novel that pushes students to learn, to analyze, and to uncover not only literary elements but also aspects of human nature as well. This novel is complex and challenging, it is easy to see why it is often used in AP classrooms. The rigorous text will help students to develop their reading skills and their ability to analyze author's choices. Additionally, the complex plot and characters will provide students with ample material to discuss and dissect. Students will learn about elements of Gothic, Romantic, and Victorian literature. They will also learn about literary techniques and grow in their ability to read difficult passages. There are few novels that push students to learn and develop in so many different aspects. This novel will be used by students to prepare for the AP Literature and Composition exam, to create rich discussions, to aid in writing lessons, and to challenge students to be critical thinkers.
