The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way my students are experiencing kindergarten. As we move towards re-entering school in just a few short weeks, the normal kindergarten classroom will not exist. I do not want my kindergarten students to lose the ability to socialize and play in a safe way!
I am requesting a variety of manipulatives, building pieces, counters, and Play-Doh! Creating individual learning bins will allow my students to still engage in the social play kindergarten students need. My students will still have the FUN that comes with a normal kindergarten school year, but it will be safe for everyone!
The materials in these bins will engage students in our Citizenship Unit for social studies. They will also support the Social Emotional Learning units and needs of students returning to school after such a long break. In kindergarten, socialization and social skills are learned through play. These individual play bins, filled with manipulatives, will safely support students social growth as they engage in safe play while in the classroom.
