Hello!
As schools are starting or continuing to bring students back into the classroom, we have realized that the students who have been disconnected from their schools, teachers and friends need some extra help and love. There is a program my school is starting to implement, Conscious Discipline, that provides Feeling Buddies to help children identify their feelings and navigate and self-regulate their emotions.
From the Conscious Discipline website:
40% of children are missing the most important skill for lifelong success: self-regulation. With the Feeling Buddies, you’ll teach children a five-step self-regulation process that helps them recognize their triggers, label their feelings and accept and manage emotions.
We would like to put a set of the "Buddies" in every classroom, especially ECE-2nd grade and our Multi-Intensive Autism classrooms, to help our students work through upset and whatever trauma they are caring with them. If our goal is reached, we will truly be able to educate the whole child.
