This pandemic has been trying for many students and families around the world. As classrooms shut down we scrambled to find solutions that would reach all students. Now we are struggling to help reach all students as learners. Some students need to return to the classroom while others need to remain at home. Finding a balance that will address all learning needs is a challenge. The most important thing we can do is to keep ALL kids connected.
As we transition students back into the classroom we will be limited to the number who can attend in person. Some students will remain at home and Zoom into our classrooms while others will be in person. To keep them collaborating with the students in the classroom we need technology that will allow them to conference, collaborate, and participate in team activities.
The OWL Pro video conferencing camera will allow students to talk to one another in a group setting. This will allow us to continue classroom dialogue, projects, and labs. The OWL Pro software will splice together images of students at home and in the classroom together on one screen. The microphones and speakers will allow them to talk with one another in a large room. The camera can also focus in on a specific location so I can demonstrate live labs to students at home while those in the classroom can experience it firsthand.
This project will be for ALL 5th and 6th graders in my building and used by nine teachers for math, science, language arts and social studies lessons.
