As new teachers, we are excited to implement developmentally appropriate practices in our K0/K1 classrooms. To do this, we need to provide varied and multiple opportunities for students to engage in hands-on multi sensory play through drama, art, blocks, and STEM. This project will support two K0/K1 classrooms.
In order to learn, students need a high quality environment and materials. In this project, we will use the kidney table for small group interventions around phonics and math, as well as space for students to receive 1:1 supports that they need to learn throughout our focus units. The printer and white board will allow students to have access to visuals that enhance their learning throughout our family and friends units. The diverse family materials, as well as other art materials asked for in this project, will allow students to see themselves in the classroom, share what they are learning through art and expression, and engage with figures that they can relate to.
We are hoping that the items on this list will enrich and deepen the learning of our students socially, emotionally, and academically as they begin to view themselves as critical thinkers, and change agents of our community.
