In this project, students with special needs will develop and practice skills in the areas of: social, communication, money, team building, and pre-employment.
The students will use materials to run a coffee cart. This cart will allow students to develop workplace readiness skills, focusing on independence in the work place. Through these activity students will develop: social skills, motor skills, communication skills, math skills, reading skills, interview skills, applying for jobs skills, and overall job readiness skills.
Students participating in The Coffee Cart workplace simulation are transition age students receiving special education services. The Coffee Cart will be set up at one of our schools that serve our self-contained special education students. The classroom will be used to prepare the coffee cart. However, the students will deliver coffee to staff throughout the school building in order to highlight the full workplace simulation.
While this may sound like a trivial matter, this population is in great need of job skills. By providing this project, you will help bring job skills to students who normally do not receive them. In all, we need a cart, coffee, creamer and other business supplies to simulate this in-house business for our students. Please help make our dream a reality.
