As an English Language Development teacher, I serve two K-8 schools with approximately 100 English Learners. In my role, I support classroom teachers and teach students in small groups. We have a wide range of learners from beginner English speakers, new to the country, and more advanced older students. Providing students with engaging tools that will build their language skills and confidence is essential for their learning. My students challenge me everyday from their varying language skills and backgrounds, but I learn so much from them and am passionate to provide them with the skills to foster their confidence and sense of belonging at school and the world around them.
