Our school partnered with the University of Iowa and brought a new STEM class to our school. First Tech Robotics is the name of the class. We purchased our starter kits, and are in the process of fund raising to purchase the tools, and remaining items, needed to begin building. The kids are extremely excited to begin building the robot. While fundraising, the students have been very busy. They are divided into 5 teams. The Builder Team has been working on the CAD program designing their robot. The Programmer/Marketing Team has been working on coding and creating a web site to promote our project. The fundraising team has been reaching out to local businesses and STEM companies across the state. The logistics team created the required tools list, and has been working on their Engineering Notebook. The Strategic team has been studying the rules of competition, and has created a class Engineering Notebook. Everyone is almost ready to begin building a robot. We are just waiting on the funds to buy the required tools, and other supplies, needed. This is an amazing class, that students can continue once they are in high school. There are so many possibilities for their future in taking this STEM class.
