Our country as a whole is struggling with big emotions. Just watch 5 minutes of news or scroll through Facebook if you don't believe me. If educated adults are struggling with meltdowns after isolation, imagine what it has done to our kids! Our babies are doing their best, but they need help. Through the means of games, I want to help them tackle their overwhelming feelings, provide strategies, and set them up for success. The only way they can be successful in school (and let's face it, in life) is to be able to self regulate when emotions are overwhelming. Social emotional games are a great way to engage the kids, but then have valuable discussion and lessons about strategies they can try, what is happening when they have "flipped their lids", and how to recover once they are really angry or upset. I plan to play these games one on one, as well in small groups, to facilitate discussion and strategies.
