Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep their young minds more alert and focused.
My students will feel empowered by having some degree of choices and control over their environment. They will be able to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups or discuss as a whole class without moving desks in order to establish eye contact.
It allows them to change their location and positions as needed. I look forward to witnessing a change in their commitment to learning and behavior. This year, I want a truly student-centered classroom.
