Providing each student with an exercise mat will allow them to safely and comfortably perform a variety of physical education activities and fitness exercises while we are in person and outside at school, either on the field or blacktop. The mat will also create a physical space so that students will stay safely apart from each other. And because students will be able to take their mats home, I can provide lessons virtually that will incorporate using their mat. Additionally, in middle school (grades 6-8), students are tested on their fitness weekly, which includes performing push-ups, curl-ups, and flexibility exercises, so having a mat will improve each student's ability to efficiently perform various movements and skills.
