These books will help me build a diverse library! In first grade, students learn so so much through read-aloud books. I would love to be able to teach about kindness, empathy, strong women, persistence, scientist, and diversity through these books. We use read-alouds for reader's response as well as great classroom conversation starters. Read-aloud books are fantastic for diverse learning. Students love to see characters that look like them and that they can relate to in real life. I want to give my students those types of books.
