I work with a significant number of students this year who read below grade level. Finding books for reluctant readers can be tough because they need books that are both written at a level they can understand and that contain topics that they find interesting.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid and I Survived are both series that my students already really like reading. The school library and our English teachers can’t keep these books on the shelves since they are so popular with our students. I hope to be able to get sets of these books for my own classroom so my students will have them as an extra resource.
Reading is a big part of our language arts classes, and students are required to read every single night as homework. Hopefully these books will make that requirement a little more manageable for them.
