Using grade-and age-appropriate manipulative materials will enable my students to explore their environment independently and collaboratively and problem-solve kinesthetically. Pre-kindergarten students benefit from hands-on learning that will be enabled with these materials.
My pre-kindergarten students will use manipulatives to practice new skills including literacy, numeracy, and cooperation. Students will use the math manipulatives to master number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and numerical value - skills necessary to be kindergarten ready. Students will use language manipulatives to master literacy skills including letter recognition, sound recognition, and upper- and lower-case letter recognition, foundational literacy skills that support pre-reading and reading skills.
