Since we have been back to school in person, we have been challenged to give learners experiences free of distractions. Our classroom doors must be left open and the noise pollution from the hallway and other classrooms are a struggle for learners. The limited number of students in a classroom has left us to have online meetings everyday with students down the hall in another classroom, and at home. For the at home learners, there is a challenge of family members watching T.V. or working from home create noise that is distracting for learners who are trying to engage online with me.
Students who are working on classwork in-person and especially at home, are at risk for missing content that they could not hear because of distractions due to noise pollution. By giving these students headphones they can be fully engaged in the content on their Chromebook as they watch learning videos, and/or meet in online meetings with me during class time.
