These Scholastic magazine articles focus on current events, core subjects and nonfiction text. When students have access to a variety of texts, they will NOT only love reading, they will become fluent readers. Additionally, students will be able to comprehend fun and enjoyable grade level text. As a result, students will make significant reading gains that will increase their reading level to one or more years in reading. Students will also participate in polls and surveys with other first grade students in the country. They will be exposed to fascinating subjects that connect reading, math, and social studies. That's a win-win for students!
