As a first-year teacher, I have had many classroom needs including instructional materials and materials for students to engage with independently. The items requested in this project are targeted at meeting some of my most recent classroom needs that are intended to best support the students I have the privilege to serve. Several items are geared towards supporting the multimodal needs of young children, including speakers that will be used to provide a better sound system within the classroom to support auditory learners. There are also several literacy activities and materials intended to support literacy development in one-on-one and small group settings. Lastly, I have requested several books intended to diversify my classroom library because having proper representation in the materials we present to students is vital. It’s so important for young children to read stories that feature characters that look like them to not only support their self-image, but also to inspire them to imagine and aspire to reach heights that otherwise may be unknown to them.
