Hello! I am a first year school counselor in Saint Joseph, Missouri. On a normal year we have around 350 students in the building and we are also a title 1 elementary school which means that we have a high enrollment of economically challenged homes.
I created the idea of giving each student a book on the day of their birthday to celebrate their next year of life and to encourage reading literacy. I have been trying to come up with ways to spread a little extra joy to these students while making it educationally and developmentally appropriate and I think this idea would be perfect!
