I have my dream job! I am the literacy teacher in a departmentalized 4th grade. We have a unique student population with our military families, economically-challenged families, and new-arrival families. Like most public school classrooms, we have many neurodivergent students with specific needs and strengths. I see them, and I am one of them.
My passion for teaching literacy grew from my own neurodivergence as a dyslexic with ADHD. I was the student who had to fight for my own literacy, and it is my mission to provide the supports I needed when I was their age. Our classroom is a safe space where every student works on their personal needs. Together, we commit to the hard work to reach our goals.
