My three-year olds all have special needs. They also have curiosity. They have wide ranging interests. They want to learn new things and to discover more. I have placed no limits on what they are able to do, to understand and to achieve. My responsibility is to find the How. The basics of their schooling includes the three Rs. Reading, Writing, 'Rithmetic. And we do throw in a little Science and Social Studies. I want to go a bit beyond that, and to do so creatively with a learn every day science kit.
My dream is that I will be able to make Science really come alive for my students. We had an Ant Farm, which allowed them to observe the colony at work together. My students fed them. They offered water. They saved apple slices from their school breakfast for their ant friends. They watched the ants bury their dead. It was an unforgettable experience for my students. Please help me to take that blossoming love of science forward.
