While we have amazing students in our building, they come to us with anxiety, stress, and trauma. We want to create a wellness room where students will be able to go for 5-10 minutes during the school day to take a breath and self-regulate. This will help them to return to their classrooms re-centered and focused, allowing them to re-engage in their learning and with their classmates. The materials and supplies that I am requesting will help our students to become calm and self-regulate when they begin to feel overwhelmed, stressed, or frustrated. The manipulatives such as the kinetic sand, magnetic fidget sphere, and stepping stones will help our students to relieve stress and frustrations that might occur throughout their day. Creating a warm and welcoming environment is a critical step in creating a wellness room. The pillows, rug, soft chairs, and light covers will allow us to create such an environment for our students. We appreciate your help in allowing us to create a room that will serve all our students.
