The students enjoy using new materials, some of which they have not even seen before. Students previously created an embossed image of their artwork onto a piece of thin sheet metal using wooden tools. Repousse, which is a French word meaning "to push," is used in the art of metal tooling. Students drew an image of an organic subject and then used wooden styling tools to press and emboss their image onto a piece of sheet metal. Students will learn about embossing, engraving, and the technique of repoussé while reinforcing the concepts of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design.
About my class
