During remote learning, our school K-8 has created an Art Club for middle school scholars who have aspirations around art. These materials will allow students to learn, hands-on, the techniques and styles of drawing. The drawing and sketch kits will be used for practicing shapes found in features of people. Shading and coloring methods will be practiced with different colored pencils to create special effects they have not worked with before.
While learning about ways to find an artist's style through exploring their sense of self, these novice artists will be able to experience alternative artistic avenues of self-expression through the multi-media options provided on the supply list.
Students will have a chance to talk about and express their own identities as well as see how art can be their outlet. Working with acrylic to create abstract art will be one activity for the students to show self-expression in a nonliteral way. Vision boards will be created with different mediums to reflect dreams and aspirations well.
