Once again, they have decided to change our 6th grade curriculum. This year the emphasis will be on teaching all of the Geography State Standards. My project will provide each students with their own world map to design and color. We will be able to focus on major land forms, animals, and cultural characteristics of each continent. The project includes stickers to use as rewards and posters and short stories to assist in learning many of the different biomes of the world. A special collection of Kente clothe replications are also included based on the fascination I saw this past year when we studied about it during our Africa passport.
I have also selected some Social Emotional Learning resources to use in the classroom since many of my students next year will not have been socializing with other students during the pandemic and I want to be able to address these topics before we begin learning our Social Studies curriculum.
