I work with Head Start children who are from low socio-economic backgrounds. The pandemic has already negatively impacted this population in several ways. My kids have had limited interactions with peers and others in general, and they are having to adapt to new ways of reading facial expressions, body language, emotions, and developing pragmatic skills in general. I will use these materials during speech-language therapy sessions to promote communication skills such as following directions, answering questions, labeling, descriptive concepts, cause and effect, turn-taking, and verbalizing to express wants and needs.
