My goal as an Italian teacher is to present my students with consistent Italian exposure in a fun and engaging, yet challenging and rewarding way. I want my students to hear Italian, speak Italian, an of course read and write in Italian regularly in class without feeling afraid or apprehensive.
I wish to heighten my students' reading ability, since I believe that they will feel more confident working in the Italian language after working with authentic materials. Ideally, we would use the readings as a springboard for reading, writing, and listening assignments too, thereby offering students a holistic approach at learning a language.
My aim is that this project will help my young students develop the problem solving skills necessary to enhance their fluency in Italian. I hope to move beyond simple vocab lists and conjugations and expose students to tasks that require a higher order of thinking.
