All of these materials will enhance my student's socio-emotional skills as well as their learning in various academic fields. The games and toys I have requested will be used multiple times throughout the day. Items such as the color sort, sight word swat, interlocking building blocks, and rainbow push bubble fidgets will allow my students to have a fun, yet educational sensory breaks. We can use the interlocking building blocks for STEM activities where my students can work as teams to create structures that hold items of different weights. The use of the various toys and games will allow my special education students opportunities to socialize with one another as they practice their team work and sharing skills. The feelings pocket chart will be used throughout the entire day to allow students to check in and express how they are feeling and why.
By donating to our project, you will be providing students with materials that will enhance their everyday learning while allowing them opportunities to work with their classmates and work on developing their social skills. The A Little Spot of Emotion book set will be used to teach my students about their feelings and different ways they can handle the emotions they feel. The Monster books series will be fun books to read with my students to inspire their imaginations.
The label maker will be beneficial for my ELL students as well as my students with autism. It will allow me to label different items, toys, and supplies around the room in both English and in Spanish. By labeling items around the classroom, students will be able to see the spelling of words along with items that go with them. The laminator will be put to good use by laminating inspirational posters, student work, and collaborative posters.
