Teaching math to special education students remotely on Zoom just isn't the same as teaching them in person. My students need that one-on-one support and frequent check-ins. While on Zoom with them, I can easily share a whiteboard from my computer, but that is not helpful to me if I cannot write on it.
Having a touch-screen laptop will allow me write out the more challenging math problems, or draw graphs and pictures, which I cannot type on our school-issued Chromebooks. This laptop will also help me to create better materials and switch between different applications and different windows more effortlessly, as I constantly have multiple things open and running at the same time.
Additionally, I would greatly appreciate the extra charger so that I don't get stuck at home or at school without one. Furthermore, the laptop stand will be essential in helping me out with my posture, as I am now constantly sitting rather than roaming around the room helping individual students.
The way I teach has been completely transformed because of this pandemic, and not having the proper technology has made it all the more challenging. Many of my students work so hard and they deserve to have the best learning experience possible. Helping to fund this project, helps me to help them! Any contribution you could make would be greatly appreciated!
