Our students are measured three times a year in Reading and Math using the iReady Diagnostic Assessment. Based on the results of their scores they are assigned assignments in the iReady online program that would help boost their score each time they take the assessment in the future. The assignments are designed to address their deficits and could be completed at home or in school. If students are not signing on, they are at a disadvantage of improving their scores which could affect their Reading and Math skills. In order to be successful students must have devices that are dependable and reliable so they could complete assignments, go to designated sites, and be able to follow classroom instruction.
We decided to have a school wide contest to increase engagement in school and to encourage students to participate in online school activities/programs/learning sites which would ultimately lead to the rise of iReady scores in Reading and Math. Our school wants to hold a raffle of Apple iPads for student who will reach their stretch growth on the I Ready Assessment this school year. The stretch growth would show significant student’s progress in Reading and Math which means the students must put a lot of effort in classroom instruction, completing assignments, and attending online sessions. Student would benefit from this contest all the way around.
I would like to ask for a donation of three Apple iPads for the raffle to use as an incentive to increase participation and improve scores. We know students love gadgets/technology and these Apple iPads would impressively satisfy technology appetite as well as be reliable to serve the academic needs of the students at home and in school. A friendly competition is a great way promote a fun learning environment.
