The project supplies will be used to make communication boards and picture symbols that our nonverbal students use to communicate with their families and their teachers. In addition to being nonverbal, several students have vision challenges as well and require picture symbols that use large amounts of colored ink to make contrasting backgrounds. The materials will be created for in some in person learning and for learning to communicate with families while students are at home.
These students will use symbols to communicate basic needs and wants. More advanced students will be able to communicate feelings, answer questions, and tell stories using these materials.
