My amazing, think outside of the box, creative students require direct instruction that is explicit, systematic, and multisensory. These tools will allow for my students to be able to work from home or at school and eliminate paper, pencil and other consumable materials traditionally used on daily assignments. All of the students in my class have Dyslexia and I provide them with Dyslexia Therapy to help with their ability to learn to recognize letter shapes, recall the letter's sound(s), and then blend or decode those sounds to read or write words/sentences/text.
Having and using modern-day, technological tools, like Boogie Boards and an interactive device, will better equip my dyslexia students to be successful at retraining their brains to see, hear, speak, and write sounds, words, and sentences, all while in a virtual classroom environment. Due to COVID-19, students cannot share manipulatives and devices so I am requesting 30 devices so each student has their own to use during class.
