Students will use the requested items to:
*Stop flowing water by creating a dam like a beaver
*Build various 2D and 3D shapes like a bee
*Design a lever so that prairie dogs can pop up and down from their holes
*Select the best materials to build an effective bird's nest
*Design a spider web that can catch insects
*Construct a termite tower
This Animal Engineers Unit includes 6 different opportunities for my students to learn a little more about nature's best builders, and try to copy their designs! Biomimicry is a fun way to show students that STEM occurs all around them! This unit embodies the STREAM format where students will use science, technology, reading, engineering, art and mathematics to complete each task. More importantly, they will use their brainpower as they 3E- enrich, engage and enjoy all while they problem solve and create prototypes.
