As at the School Psychologist, I am assigned to an elementary school 4 days/ week and to a high school 1 day/week. I provide therapy services to schools that are under-privileged and under-funded. I often lack resources that I need to teach special students how to increase their self-awareness and self-management. I provide services to students who struggle the most. These students are often in Special Education, experiencing trauma, have difficulties with socializing or maintaining good relationships, and lack skills to appropriately engage in the classroom. I provide services to students 1:1 and in small groups.
As a Psychologist, I have made a point to be approachable and spend a lot of my time out of my office while bonding with students; most of the 700 students know me by name. Children in elementary school often enjoy therapy but I am looking for a way to increase their engagement. These items would be used by students year after year! Please consider donating to my project as Social Emotional well-being and learning is just as important as academics!
