Hi ! I am a first year teacher starting mid-year in an urban charter school. My classroom is very limited in supplies, especially literacy recourses. The children need everyday materials like crayons, pencils, scissors, glue sticks, and folders. My goal is to have enough of basic supplies so that each child has their own. The children also need homework folders as they have not done homework all year.
I also added letter building games so that I can use my phonics curriculum. My scholars need help reading and building words. I also added pronged folders so that I can make literacy center folders, as it is not easy to create centers given the pandemic.
I added file folders so that I can make individual folders for each student. I wanted to add individualized work for the children to their folders.
I feel dry erase boards are a very important recourse for the classroom. It make learning fun, engaging, and makes informal assessment easy.
I want to help the children learn as much as they can in the next 5 months. They have been through 5 different teachers, with 4 walking out on them. I want to bring a love for learning and school into the classroom. I want to bring consistency into the classroom as well. They deserve consistency, love, and a chance to learn. The students deserve a teacher who will stay.
