Oakland Elementary is a Title 1 school which has been without a music teacher for some time, and I am working hard to make sure my students have high quality, engaging music education regardless of the challenges we face together. Keeping students safe and learning during COVID has been a challenge for everyone, and there are some particular challenges with learning music during the pandemic. Whether we are online, in person, or a bit of both, my students are unable sing together, play instruments, or make music together in real time. Soundtrap is a special tool that will allow my students to find their own musical voices in an authentic, meaningful, and innovative way. The students at Oakland deserve real world 21st century tools to learn and be creative, and that is what Soundtrap can provide. Not only will they be able to make music in a new and meaningful way, but they will be able to work together, be creative, and grow no matter what learning situation we find ourselves in.
