With the cleaning protocols this year, my students have to have individualized supplies to stop the spread of germs. Previously, students would share leveled book bins with their reading groups, but this year my books are separated and individualized for each of my students. This means less choice for my students, as I only have so many books per level that I can separate for them.
Choice is a huge motivating factor for students, and having more leveled readers that are of interest for my students will increase motivation, literacy skills, and ultimately a joy for reading. I am asking for more leveled books for my students to enjoy.
With the uncertainty of if and when we might have to go virtual, I would also like to supply my students with headphones for use at school and home. Many students are at daycare, or have multiple siblings at home who are also learning virtually and it can get very loud and hard for students to focus, without the use of headphones. This would greatly benefit students engagement with virtual learning at home, as well as the use of literacy and math websites at school.
