Throughout the year, we engage in reading/writing units about many important topics. First, we study characters deeply and write our own stories. Then, we research Native American cultures and write informative essays, teaching others what we discovered. Next, we dive into books about social issues and learn how to become social justice activists. Finally, we wrap up the year with research on immigration, which is a subject many of our students have experience with first hand.
These books will help our students gain understanding about these important topics. Not only will we read these books in read aloud, which is when we read together, but they will also be used individually by students. I know they will love these stories!
