Working with gifted and talented students, I am constantly trying to invent the wheel. I have no set curriculum, nor does much of the professional development that is provided by my school fit into my mold. I provide pull-out services to my gifted students.
It's always a challenge to get something meaningful to fit into a small chunk of time. My students choose projects tailored to their needs and often that includes a science study. Steve Spangler has always been my go-to guy for the past several years when providing projects to my students. We are able to find a specific area of study and really get a depth of understanding when the students are able to do hands-on demonstrations and experiments. His website has been helpful in finding activities to go along with our study, however having the opportunity to personally Zoom monthly with him for a whole year would be a most amazing gift! I have experienced Steve's Everyday STEM group for a couple of months now and I have already gained so much that I can take back to my students. Like I mentioned earlier, much of the professional development offered to me does not apply to a pull-out gifted room. Having this professional development will give me practical ideas that I can take directly back to my students. In the couple of months that I have had access to Everyday STEM, we have already created Borox crystals, studied Newton's Laws of Motion, and touched on circuits with the Steve Spangler Energy Sticks. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The funds to access this for a whole year would be amazing! Thank you for taking the time to consider my request-my students and I will forever grateful.
