My students will participate in a virtual read aloud experience of the historical fiction book, "Buffalo Before Breakfast." Each student will have her own paper copy of the book, allowing greater literacy gains while offering a break from the strain of constant internet viewing during pandemic teaching. In addition to the rich English language arts lessons that will accompany the read aloud, we will participate in weekly weaving classes in which each student will practice weaving skills to create their own weaving inspired by Native American culture. This will help develop their fine motor skills for handwriting, as well as build a new creative skill that will likely follow them throughout their lives.
