This year everything about education is different. What we can normally do in a classroom to help motivate students to participate and be proud of their work is much hard to make happen from a distance.
One way I have always encourage students to put forth their best effort was to showcase student work. We would hang up work both in my classroom and in the hallways. That is much harder to do while students are distance learning.
I would greatly appreciate help in order to purchase a color printer for my classroom so that I can print student work and display it. I zoom with a set of windows behind me in my classroom. I would like to hang up some of their work to encourage them during our zoom meetings. For example, student digitally decorated lab coats with pictures that represented concepts we discussed in our first semester of school. Hanging them up gives them a quick reminder of those topics. Plus, it is a great way to show students what good work looks like while encouraging students to not only do their best but also to join in our zoom meetings.
