Traditional middle school classrooms are 4 walls, desks, posters, a projector screen.
In the social studies classroom, it is always a challenge to make the content interesting and relevant. Learning about people, events and important concepts from the distant past feels very remote and trivial for many thirteen-year-olds.
With Oculus VR, students are IN the Roman Colosseum, scaling heights at Machu Picchu, experiencing the Anne Frank house first-hand, problem-solving historical situations.
There is nothing I can imagine that is more engaging than taking students to the places that are most important, and having them experience them first hand.
