The materials my students need is the gift of technology. They need a minimum of (4) iPads to learn to compete in the real world and become comfortable using technology. In our science classroom we have two (2) desktop computers that do not work. So, I use my children's two Dell laptop and my Promethean board so that the students can take turns researching projects. All investigative activities are done as a whole class because the Dell laptops do not have the capability to run simulations.
With the addition of the new iPads it will make a difference in the students' learning. Groups can consist of 2-3 students instead of 5 or more. Students will be actively involved in the learning process while using the technology. Students will be able to utilize the simulations, research in pairs, complete digital assignments, and collect video data when we attend field trips. Direct experience with technology in the classroom will definitely help me to differentiate instructions. Students' varied learning styles can then be addressed. We all know that students do not learn or synthesize information at the same time or level. With additional technology in the classroom, I will be able to help bridge that gap. Thank you for supporting the gift of technology.
