The books will be used and distributed to students to read from home over summer and during the school year. Students will be able to choose from a list of diverse books and will read their book of choice with a small group of other students who select the same book. Students will be able to connect and discuss the texts in small "book club" groups. The idea came, in part, because many of my students want a break from their screens, but do not have access to library books due to covid closures and restrictions. The project is also to help prepare students for college and to practice participating in academic conversations and discussions about the texts they read. The project will also help to foster a joy and love for reading.
