The lap desks, floor cushions, clipboards, chair bands, pencil holders, bouncy bands, and other items were chosen to help students have flexibility in the classroom while still learning. Sitting in a desk and asking students to complete all of their work is a difficult task. The items that were selected can help students to move around more and get comfortable in different places in the classroom. We ask students on a daily basis to do difficult work and my hope is that by using these different flexible seating options, students will be able to feel they have the freedom to choose how they complete that work. When giving students choice, they are more willing to try new and difficult things. I aim to empower my students and show them they are capable of doing anything. With these options in the classroom they can do exactly that!

About my class
