The current year has brought physical restrictions to the classroom but that should not limit our children's learning. DHEC regulations have forced us to spread the children apart for safety and it has inhibited the ability for children to work collaboratively. My current classroom only has large desks that are designed for much older students and my smaller students cannot get comfortable enough to learn or concentrate.
Research supports the theory that when children are allowed to move, bounce, lean, and wobble, it keeps young minds engaged, alert and focused.
