Students are aching to learn that they are not alone in all of their fears, feelings, and questions. Luckily there are so many beautiful books out there that address and normalize all of these thoughts and feelings in gentle, age appropriate, and sometimes funny ways!
When I read stories to kids I can see their bodies relax as I speak a truth they've buried deep inside. Our conversations lead us to a place of empowerment as they learn they are not alone and better yet, they have the tools to overcome their strong and scary feelings.
The selected books have come recommended by other counselors and educators and I look forward to sharing them with my students and their families during classroom lessons, online story times, and small group sessions.
