Mayne preschool children enjoy reading these books and have their favorites. For example, many of these books are about grandparents from different cultures. Children are learning through these books that "Grandpa" can be said in other languages like "Oma, Opa, Tata, Nana, Pop, Nani, Abuelo, Abuela, Lita/Lito, or Nini. Also, grandparents can do many activities with their grandchildren, such as cooking, planting, riding bikes, swimming, painting, singing, and/or dancing. These books have opened windows for our students to see and learn from other cultures and also to reflect in the mirrors on how grandparents are like theirs in different cultures. In recent years, the support of grandparents in our community has been enormous in helping their own grandchildren by bringing them to the preschool while the parents work and have also helped them at home.
