Books are very important in the development of students. Narratives help connect spoken and written language. They are rich with language and many of my students are not exposed to books in their home environment. I want my students to be able to hold books, learn about their features and build their speech and language skills in meaningful contexts. Books offer that experience! I have chosen the books in this project intentionally based on the rich language that they contain. I have also included some tools (abacus, games) that will reinforce students and motivate them to practice their goals because practice makes permanent.
