My students are a part of a Title I school in a rural town; this is a high poverty area. Due to the high poverty in this community, many of my students would not be able to purchase a novel for themselves.
There are two novels in my project to allow my students to feel a sense of ownership in their choices as they will choose what book they want to read. These books will be used in class during our month-long novel study unit, and students will be able to take these books home.
