Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our music class has had to make changes in the way we learn and engage in class daily. As a teacher who encourages class participation, it's been challenging for myself and the students to adapt to these new ways of learning and teaching. Because of stipulations on vocal music classes, students have had to engage in lessons including singing outdoors, or in the virtual setting.
Many ARTS classes have had to adjust class lessons and learning to new environments to stop or prevent the spread of the virus.
To be effective in this new way, a Bluetooth speaker is needed when I move my lessons to larger spaces, including outdoors. I strive daily to expose my students to various lessons that include many uses of technology that will be helpful in pushing them to the next level of music appreciation and performance. Since my classroom is confined and the technology is so outdated, my students are not being exposed to my level of effective materials and technology use that can push them to the goals I have set.
If you choose to fund this project, you will not only help to increase student engagement, but you will also help to give the students more exposure to the different musical elements and learning strategies through various uses of technology. The Bluetooth speakers would be useful when sending music and voice media over large distances which will assist with social distancing. The printer will also be used to help print and display class music scores, lessons, assignments, and help with providing ensemble students as well as virtual students with part assignments.
With these resources it will not matter if I am teaching in-person or virtually, all my students will have the best possible chance for success.
